On Saturday, April 21, Peace Action of Staten Island invited me and 6 Democrats, who are running for Congress in the 11th Congressional District for their party nomination, to a Candidate Forum at the Unitarian Church of Staten Island. I introduced myself and stressed that we had to pay attention to the warning given by Dwight Eisenhower about the unwarranted influence to our society of the Military Industrial Complex.
We candidates were also asked a lot of questions about peace and I stressed the absolute need to carry out diplomacy with every country to maintain peace throughout the world. I also stressed that we should greatly reduce the number of foreign military bases we have around the world.
On 10/22/16, Saturday, I attended the Staten Island Peace Action Make Food Not War Dinner at the Olivet Presbyterian Fellowship Hall on Staten Island. It was also an awards ceremony and three awards were given to 4 Staten Islanders who are promoting peace in the world.
At the dinner, I talked to the diners and gave out my campaign fliers. I talked about my campaign and how we should use diplomacy with countries around the world instead of militarism to have a peaceful world.
On Wednesday 8/17/16 I met with 3 members of Staten Island Peace Action at Mike’s Place, on New Dorp Lane at 7PM . They asked me questions about my views on what I would do to maintain peace in the world, about using drones, about immigration, about our military bases, about our Federal military budget, about our crumbling infrastructure and a lot more.
I gave my answers which they are preparing to use, to inform members of my views, in a Staten Island Peace Action voters guide.
